Week of August 12, 1916- 104 years ago
The 10th biennial conference of the #NationalAssociationofColoredWomen was held at Bethel AME Church, Druid Hill Avenue and Lanvale Street, in August 1916. Mary B. Talbert (suffragist, civil rights and anti-Lynching activist, and educator) was elected president of the group over #HallieQBrown.
#MadamCJWalker presented at the conference, as did #MaryFHandy (wife of AME #BishopJohnHurst), #MrsBookerTWashington and countless other prominent women.
