According to a January 24, 1959 AFRO American newspaper article about Helen Holland's funeral, she funeralized over 35,000 people during her 30+ year career as the head of Holland Funeral Home.
After the demolition of the funeral home in early 2000, I dug in the rubble to salvage records of this significant black owned business in Old West Baltimore. I even pulled some wet documents from the gutter.
