On this day: Thurgood Marshall Appointed to Supreme Court


On this day, U.S Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall, appointed to the Court by President Lyndon B. Johnson and confirmed by the Senate on August 30, 1967, had served as Chief Counsel of the #NAACP. He was confirmed as Associate Justice by a Senate vote of 69-11, making him the first African American to serve on the Supreme Court.
